![]() The graphics are still cool and gory after all this time, and Blood shows that you don't need the newest 3D graphics to have an amazing game! The atmosphere in Blood is still so creepy and unique even today! They couldn't capture that magic in the sequel, but it was a good try. Nope, there's nothing like the original Blood! You play Caleb, double crossed ex-minion of the evil demon lord Tchernobog. You blast, chop, zap, burn and voodoo your way through his evil and horrific mob of followers in search of his double crossing hide. The monsters absolutely rule in Blood, including the gun and dynamite weilding cultists who scream in their own eerie language, axe weilding zombies yelling for your brains [like the ones in Night Of The Creeps], fire breathing devil dogs, swarms of ferocious gargoyles, soul sucking dismembered and reanimated hands, voracious man sized shark monsters and more! The levels have just as much cool variety too, including a cemetery, bombed out city, circus from hell, mountains, caves and even a Crystal Lake stage among others.![]() I also recommend getting the Cryptic Passage addon levels, they're kickass too! The game has a ton of references for horror fans, like Trioxin cannisters from Return Of The Living Dead, Eric Draven's grave from The Crow, Jason's mask and Knife from the Friday The 13th movies and lots more. The sound effects and music for Blood is absolutely perfect and will still terrify, especially with headphones. There's not much creepier than hearing a bunch of axe swinging zombies suddenly behind you crying out for your tasty brains. Blood is famous for being super hard even on easy settings, but the atmosphere and level design is so great that it'll scare and challenge you even if you use the cheat codes! I especially love the funny comments and bits of singing Caleb does usually when he gets bored, he's a real character. Do yourself a favor and ignore the age of the game, if you're a horror or first person shooter fan, you'll love it! If you just won't play a game this old, you're missing out. If you have Windows XP or higher, just get Dosbox [linked below] to emulate windows 95 and play this infinitely cool old horror game! For the closest thing in a new game, check out Painkiller below. ![]() The game can either follow a storyline with scripted missions, or you can play totally freeform and do whatever you want. I usually do a big batch of missions to open up the game, then set my own agenda of Taxi and Tank missions, selling dope from the Ice Cream Truck, motorcycle jumps and general killing and mayhem. The Taxi missions are especially cool for getting used to the city, plus you can make a lot of money fast if you're good at it. As in all the Grand Theft Auto games, the radio stations are phenominal. They have some cool music [in this case 80's], but the commercials and stuff really help create that uniquely GTA world. The graphics in Vice City are great and have a cool clean cartoony quality that I missed in San Andreas. The story and characters in the missions are cool and I think all the voice acting is excellently done. Tommy's slow progression of power is challenging and satisfying, and the variety of properties you can buy is big. I think the small touches really make Vice City so great, like all the comments the bystanders make, or how a gang will grow to hate you on sight if you constantly kill their guys.![]() The Grand Theft Auto games get a lot of grief for their amount of violence, but I think games should be violent! I don't want somebody shooting up my neighbourhood, but I really love going on a five star killing spree in Vice City with a tank and a mini-gun! Violence as entertainment rocks! Plus, with the option to save at any one of your properties, this game is the perfect break between work or to shake out some writer's block. If you haven't played Vice City before, definitely put it on your to do list, and if you're already a fan lock and load! The Grand Theft Auto Vice City logo links to a great site. ![]() [the books & paper version, original only, the new stuff sucks!] for years and all of my Vampire Art is based on stuff from the game. But a while ago, I stumbled onto the coolest vampire video game ever! As a matter of fact it's my new all time favorite game ever! [the record holder for years was Blood] VtM: Bloodlines is an official White Wolf game, meaning it uses the actual World of Darkness as the setting. And it's the World of Darkness alright, everyone is up to something seedy, and bizarre and horrific things are around every corner. Including vampires, ghosts, zombies and lots of other cool nasties. The game itself is the perfect cross between a solid RPG and a great action game! I love running through an old graveyard full of zombies, blasting them before they escape into Hollywood! Or busting into an enemy vampire gang's lair, slashing them to pieces with a sharp hook on a stick! And the story is wide open, so what missions and tasks you take on are up to you. The game is different depending on what character you take and their game stats. As a crazy Malkavian, my television told me a funny story, and if you're an ugly ![]() Nosferatu people will run away screaming. The plot and characters are perfect. I especially love Jack [voiced by John DiMaggio, Bender from Futurama], Fat Larry the gun dealer, Chunk the night watchman and so many others. I get about a full week's [playing all day] entertainment each time I play through the game. I've played 6 different characters so far and I still love the game!! I'm hooked on the awesome music from the game too, and once you install the game, the music is in a folder as mp3's! That rules! The game has very high end graphics too, so you'll need a decently beefy system to run it. But if you're looking for a game to blow your mind, look no more! Get this game and you'll play it to death! Trailer, tons of pictures, v1.2 patch, the essential walkthrough [helps you find every quest], and more!
